A lecture by Daniel Birnbaum and Alison Gigeras. Is this recent trend of returning to painting proof of the desire to return to the traditional values of autonomy, authenticity and self expression?

Daniel Birnbaum is head of the International Artist's Studio Pragramme in Sweden (IASPIS) and a regular contributor to ARTFORUM.

Alison Gingeras is assistant curator for the Guggenheim Museum and is a regular contributor to ARTFORUM, Parkett and Tate etc.
