'Dune' by Daan Roosegaarde is an interactive landscape which reacts on the behavior of people. This hybrid of nature and technology exists out of large amounts of fibers which are brightened according to the sounds and motion of passing visitors.
'Dune' investigates nature in a futuristic relation with urban space by means of looking, walking and interacting.

NRC about Dune 4.1
Daan Roosegaarde is a young artist working in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts AKI in Enschede and received a Master at the Berlage Institute, a Postgraduate Laboratory of Architecture in Rotterdam.
Roosegaarde's work explores the dynamic relation between architecture, people and e-culture. In this interaction his sculptures create a situation of 'tactile high-tec' where visitor and (public) space become one.
Roosegaarde's interactive projects have been shown at international exhibitions at V2_, Netherlands Media Art Institute Montevideo, Tate Modern London, 'Microwave' Hong Kong, YCAM Japan and National Art Center Tokyo.
Currently Daan is the creative director of Studio Roosegaarde, an independent artistic laboratory in which interactive artworks are created.

Flow 5.0 is an interactive landscape made out of hundreds of ventilators which reacts on your sound and motion. By walking and interacting the visitor creates an illusive landscape of transparencies and artificial wind.Moving through Flow 5.0 the visitor becomes conscious of himself as a body, in a dynamic relation with space and technology.

Sustainable Dance Floor is an interactive floor which generates electricity through the movements of the dancing people. This fusion of sustainable innovations uses mechanisms and embedded technologies to harvest energy.
By using interactive technologies Studio Roosegaarde creates a sensual and interactive environment in which dancers are engaged with this Sustainable experience.

Liquid Space 6.0 is an interactive space which physically becomes bigger, smaller and brighter in relation to human behavior. This interactive fusion of mechanisms, embedded electronics, sound and LEDs creates a real-time dialogue with its visitors.
Liquid Space 6.0 has its premier show in Japan and evolves its behavior towards the visitors; creating an embryonic co-existence.

Dune 4.2 is our new, permanent interactive landscape besides the river Maas in Rotterdam, NL. This public artwork of 60 meters utilizes less than 60 Watts while intuitively interacting with the behavior of its visitors; rendering it a sustainable as well as cutting-edge concept.
Here the people of Rotterdam have a daily 'walk of light'; in this collective experience between humans, technology and landscape.
