Radioscape

The city centre as acoustical labyrinth is the metaphor for Edwin van de Heide'sRadioscape. The visitor can fetch the specially designed radio receiver at a designated place and enter an area in which twelve transmitters are placed. As you move around, the receiver will pick up different layers of sounds transmitted by the different transmitters. All transmitters are broadcasting on exactly the same frequency. The sounds from two or more transmitters can mix in the receiver, creating a constantly changing balance. As you walk, one sound will slowly takeover from the previous while for example a third one is present in the background.
