At the moment, we are dreaming up a list of beautiful and rare bicycles to put in our exhibition window. You can follow our research here

This Spring, Mediamatic will not be the only art institution in awe of the bike builder’s craft. The exhibition Bespoke:The Handbuilt Bicycle will have its opening four days later than we do. Curators Michael Maharam and Sacha White selected twenty-one handbuilt bicycles for display in the Museum of Art and Design in New York. Their builders will be put into the spotlight as talented craftsmen and artistic individuals who steer the bike in new directions.

For those who would rather have quantities of custom bikes to drool over and meet many master builders in person, a bike fair is of course the best place to go to. The most renown one, the North American Handmade Bicycle Show, already passed in February. You can watch more video footage and pictures on their website.

Otherwise you can go to its little European brother in the South-German Schwäbisch Gmünd. It will take place for the second time on May 21-23. The main aim of the event is to stimulate networking among builders and promote the advantages of a hand-built bike. More info here.
