'Portraits of Noord' by Ahmed Kamel

Ahmed Kamel has made portraits in Berlin, Istanbul and other cities. In Noord he looked for families and photographed them in their most intimate setting: their living room.

'The Girl, the Pot & the Frog' by Foundland

Foundland find themselves inspired by the many fairytale aspects of Noord. Wandering around, they were surprised by the number of garden gnomes, fake frogs, and Indiana Jones style twists and turns in the urban Noord streetscape. At Mediamatic Bank they've collected their favorite finds.

My Burglar and I

Kaweh lives in an abandoned factory in Amsterdam-Noord. One night a burglar stole his laptop. Miraculously, he retrieves the laptop, and finds four hours of footage the burglar made of himself. This event was reason for Kaweh to start an investigation into 'his' burglar. This resulted in the film "My Burglar and I".

'Super Helal Doner shop' by Tunc Topcuoglu

Tunc has track down the best Kebab in Noord, dressed up as a cow, and worked together with the store owner to shoot a short film.

SUPER HELAL is an online documentary. Tunc scoured Noord for the best Doner Kebab. What does SUPER HELAL mean? "SUPER HELAL is center of multiculture, center of understanding, center of fun, center of friendship, center of love." Tunc set up an actual Super Helal Doner shop at Mediamatic Bank.

'Bakkar' by Kareem Lotfy

Kareem Lotfy spend hours with people from Noord that normally stay unvisible and never come to the center of attention. His interviews aren't lineary stories, but give space to lives that are lived unseen, in another language. He shows this elusiveness in his work by witholding from judgments and journalism - just by being together with the people.

'Slakkenboerderij' by Wietske Maas

Wietske Maas has developed a recipe map of Noord's edibles: an archetypal dish of Amsterdam Noord. Her snail farm was outside Mediamatic Bank held with hundreds of snails climbing the walls and dusting the floors of the glass vitrines along the Vijzelstraat.

'Gentrification Battlefield' by Golfstromen

Golfstromen has turned the gentrification battle in Noord into a video game. Relaxed (or tensed) in a Chesterfield people enjoyed some 8-bit vintage goodness.

‘Temporary office Silent Investors' by Sarah van Sonsbeeck

Noord is a transitional borough, continuously under attack by urban development and gentrification plans. Sarah van Sonsbeeck has acquired a piece of land, and returned it to the inhabitants of Noord. After filling in a form, visitors received their grain of Noord.

During the summer of 2010 Malak Helmy got her feet wet with some of Noord's best synchronized swimmers. The result? A beautiful, poetic video installation about Noord and about living as an individual in a group.
