Sensor Fest
Sensor Fest takes place on November 23, 24 and 25 at Mediamatic Bank. It sheds a light on the newest developments in the world of sensors. Sensors are increasingly employed in the creative sector, as well as in the medical world, agriculture, new media, and by the government. What can sensors tell us about ourselves and the world?
Program
Seth Hunter is a PhD student at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He is part of the Fluid Interfaces group. His research focuses on interactive interfaces, and the development of environments that support meaningful social experiences and creative engagement.
Kendra Markle works with the Persuasive Technology Lab at Stanford University. Her company AlterActions.org focuses on the development of persuasive technology tools with the aim of realizing sustainable behavior change. Kendra focuses in specific on the prevention of obesity.
Nadya Peek is part of the physics and media group at MIT media lab. She's particularly interested in designing and building affordable machines that would allow individuals to make accurate measurements of their surroundings. Now, these machines are huge and incredibly expensive. If we can create machines that you can easily carry around with you, and are accurate, we could actually say something about the world around us, instead of just make guesses.
