Not happy with the quality of your print?
HP Designjet Z 2100
How to get rid of ugly stripes and other not digital based quality problems.
Stripes on the print
If your print looks "stripy", it's time to make a diagnostic image (print), to discover where the problem exactly is. It's always a good decision to make a "diagnostic image"!
How to make a "Diagnostic Image" (HP Designjet Z 2100 Photo)
1. Find out if there is paper in Printer. You can print the diagnostic image on every paper, but don't print it on canvas or the most expensive paper you can find, there is no need.
2. Enter the Main Menu of the Printer
3. Enter "Image quality maintenance"
4. Select "Print diagnostic Image"
5. Let it print, if the print looks like this, then the problem is somewhere else.
Diagnostic image without a problem
6. If the print looks like this and there are stripes on one or even more color-fields, then you have to replace the printhead which belongs to the color-field.
— In that case the LM-LC (Light Magenta / Light Cyan) printhead doesn't work correct.
Diagnostic image with a broken printhead (LM-LC)
How to replace a printhead
1. Enter "Main Menu" on the printer screen
2. Enter "Ink"
3. Select "Replace printheads"
4. Follow the instructions on the screen
— open the covering
— take the broken printhead out
— replace the broken printhead with a new one (take the oldest one you can get, there is a "best before date" printed on every package).
— make a mark for the printheads or ink-cartridges you take.
— After replacing a printhead, you have to make a "printhead alignment".
How to make a "printhead alignment"
1. Put just the normal standard paper (valid paper) in the printer
2. Enter "Main Menu"
3. Enter "Image quality maintenance"
4. Select "Printhead alignment"
5. It should be successful, if not and there is a message, that the printer can't scan the printed pattern, than use HP high quality photo paper and do the same thing again.
6. Stripe problem is fixed!
