Philips MSX II, 1984

Game: Metal Gear

IN 1982 ASCII Corporation introduced the MSX-standard. MSX stands for 'Machines with Software eXchangeability'. It meant that MSX software would run on any computer that featured the MSX logo. The MSX was launched in Europe by Philips and Sony in 1984.

It was the first console Metal Gear was released on, a game in which game tactic and stealth were more important than simply shooting and killing the enemy. Recently a version was released for the PS3.

We would like to thank Bonami for the MSX featuring in the Arcade exhibition.
