Apparently, Battles are now a math-rock band. Math rock may just be a nicer name for progressive rock, without all of the Genesis associations.

One of the first math-rock bands was Don Caballero, and it so happens to be that the members of said first band are also in Battles.

But enough definitional nonsense, they make good music for nice people.
