The ikPod, Mediamatic's prizewinning RFID multimedia guide, is now available as Android app. With the app, visitors can choose audio, texts, images and videos about objects in an exhibition. As the app doesn't require any additional hardware, it is available to a wide audience and involves low costs for those who would like to offer it to their visitors.

IkPod for Android offers an interactive experience without the physical device that the original version required. The app is now available at the App Store. Ikpod for Android is only available to Android smartphones with NFC.
How does it work?
Objects in an exhibition are tagged with RFID chips and connected to relevant online information. Visitors scan the objects with their smartphone and ikPod for Android presents additional content to choose from; audio, video, images, web pages. This places the objects on exhibit in a relevant context and creates an interactive and personalised experience.
Awards
In April 2011, the first ikPod won a SpinAward in the category Best Mobile Concept and received a Best Practice award from Virtueel Platform, who also included the ikPod in their poster campaign. See more information about the ikPod1.
