Katya Novitskova is an Estonian artist based in Amsterdam. Her work focuses on issues of technology, evolutionary processes, digital imagery and corporate aesthetics. Novitskova is interested in investigating how "media actively redefines the world and culture, and everything" related to art, nature and commerce.

Key themes in her practice have evolved from an interest in post-internet art practices, technology and the biological evolution within the current geological era. In 2010, she published the influential artist book the ‘Post Internet Survival Guide’. Between 2017 and 2018 her third artist book ‘If Only You Could See What I’ve Seen with Your Eyes’ with Kumu Art Museum and Venice Biennale through Sternberg Press and in 2016 ‘Dawn Mission’ was published with the Kunstverein in Hamburg. Her work has been exhibited internationally in solo and group exhibitions including the recent Kunstfort bij Vijfhuizen (2021, solo); Belgrade Biennal (2021) and Migros Museum für Gegenwartskunst, Zürich (2020).

Katya is a returning member of Mediamatic, having interned with us in 2007! Her interests lay in the ecological and anthropological consequences to the explosion of information technologies and related markets around the globe. At this time she was working on books and exhibitions which approached these issues from a range of perspectives - from our Internet state of mind to the coltan mines in Congo. She worked with us on IkIkIk!, Kiki on Steroids, IkRip, Amsterdam Biennale and New Order amongst other Mediamatic projects.
