Custom Aquaponics Group Workshop

Build a system with colleagues or friends

Aquaponics is a sustainable eco-system for food production that combines the cultivation of plants and fish. Mediamatic designs aquaponic installations on a Dutch scale. Sustainable mini-nurseries that you build with your colleagues, and take care of together. Craving a green(er) office? Don't hesitate to get in touch.

Custom workshop

In one day you and your colleagues will build your own eco-system from mainly recycled materials. During this day you'll learn everything you need to know about the eco-system and how you can best take care of it. We'll plant herbs, vegetables and fruits, and release the fish into the water. At the end of the day you'll have built a fully functional office nursery. Fill the meeting room with tomatoes, harvest your own lunch. The workshop will take place on your premises. Our Aquaponics Helpdesk will be available (during weekdays) for any questions you might have. Advanced courses are available for those who would like to take their knowledge of this unique eco-system to the next level.

What is Aquaponics?

The Aquaponic Gardening Community describes aquaponics as "the cultivation of fish and plants together in a constructed, recirculating ecosystem utilizing natural bacterial cycles to convert fish waste to plant nutrients. This is an environmentally, friendly, natural food-growing method that harnesses the best attributes of aquaculture and hydroponics, without the need to discard any water or filtrate or add chemical fertilizer."
The Mediamatic Aquaponics team is currently building an urban oasis based on this eco-friendly system. Our first 4-storey aquaponics tower was exhibited during De Etende Mens, an exhibition in the Designhuis, Eindhoven, and during Dag van de Architectuur in Amsterdam.
