GERBEN WILLERS
Gerben Willers (1982) is an art historian and is the curator of Showroom MAMA . He studied modern- and contemporary Art History at the State University of Groningen. During his studies in Groningen he founded the experimental exhibition project GOTS (Gallery On The Streets) and attended the curatorial training program Mr. Miyagi: Curating Tomorrow at MAMA, Rotterdam. For his Master’s degree he wrote a highly acclaimed thesis about the building dissections of Gordon Matta-Clark, focusing on a theoretical framework concerning earth- and performance art. Gerben worked as an intern for Museum het Domein in Sittard, and was a member of the artistic advisory board of SYB in Beetsterzwaag. Gerben is currently working as a curator for MAMA in Rotterdam and is fellow researcher in a project concerning the history of Dutch art criticism that’s initiated by VU University of Amsterdam, State University of Groningen and the Prince Bernhard Cultural Foundation.
