Herman van den Boom is an artist/photographer since 1971. He was born out of Dutch-Belgian parents in Belgium, but much later raised in Holland. As soon as possible he started to travel worldwide. Crossing borders is part of his culture and artistic approach. "What is seen as an important issue, fact or believe in one culture is seen as an hostile artifact in another". He is now working and living in both countries "as a foreigner". He has been a guest professor at the Higher Institute of the Arts, Antwerp Belgium and at the Academy of Fine Arts, Maastricht Holland. His work was exhibited at the Photography Biennale of Moscow, Musée de la Photographie, Charleroi, Belgium, LaForetMuseum Tokyo, Van Abbemuseum Eindhoven, Holland. His work is in the collection of the Museum of Photography Antwerp and the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam.
