The final breath of Ik R.I.P.

Theater-artist Alix Adams was the Petrus of this evening, guiding people towards the white light. Everyone was asked to wear an outfit you want to be found in when you're dead. DJs Koen Nova and Katja Nutters set the mood. And after midnight we played with coffins...

Alix Adams prepared people for death this evening. At the entrance of Mediamatic BANK, a fortune teller predicted at what age you will die. Then you were sent down to the basement where stylists made you look your last moment had come. Alix asked everyone who received a death sentence to step up on a platform and reflect on their life. What did they waste their time on and what are their final words? After that it was time for them to wave goodbye to the audience and go upstairs to heaven. Here they were greeted by angels with champagne. But the dead people kept coming back down and roamed the room as ghosts...

During the entire evening it was possible to decorate a cardboard coffin. At first people were a bit apprehensive, but as soon as they got started on a design, they just couldn't stop! The night turned into crafty party and by the end of the evening the whole floor was covered with coffins and enthusiastic coffin-decorators. Everyone joined in and worked together. We made coffins with last wishes scribbled on, coffins with beautiful paintings and drawings, Easter-coffins, coffins for grandparents and Sinterklaas and a coffin with a Michael Jackson-theme. Playing with the coffins was a lot of fun!

Our Angels working in Afterlife-

In the Afterlife two Angels were waiting for the wannabe dead people. Celebrating arrival with champagne one could have very good and philosophic talks with other dead people. Some died after an attack from a crocodile, other drifted too far on their air mattress, didn't wake up from their sleep or collapse after a wonderfull orgasm (well in their minds anyway).

The smoke screen in the Afterlife caused a silent alarm somewhere at the Fire Department. Six big men showed up. They looked surprised and amuzed by the get-together of wannabe dead people. From then on the Afterlife was smokeless but nonetheless pleasant.
