Dutch Windmills, Art and Industry
windmills at the airport
Typical dutch windmills as seen by the painters Gabrïel, Roelofs and Jongkind, and also a few ingenious eighteenth century models.
The windmill itself is actually not a dutch invention, but while the dutch were busy with the validation of their expression ''God created the world, but the dutchmen created Holland", they used windmills to pump the water out of their newfound land.
The Rijksmuseum Amsterdam Schiphol is on the Holland Boulevard, the area behind passport control, between the E and F piers. The musuem is open daily from 07:00 to 20:00.
