Exhibition: Amsterdam, Mediamatic / Post CS

1997

Bigger 1

Tunc Topcuoglu

Throughout June, five young artists will play in and with Mediamatic's project space.
The project will start with one artist, with another joining every week.
The first artist was Tunc Topcuoglu (Turkey). He designed a singular game that needs to be discovered using a MAGNIFYING GLASS and a typefont to go with the game as well.

Using the magnifying glass, users can omit and create new shapes with the basis of Topcuoglu's font, which incorporates both lower and upper case in one letter. Using a videocamera to frame the work on display, the user is invited to play with the work, discovering breaks and connections throughout the images.

A different version of Topcuoglu's magnifying glass game was present during GAME TIME, an evening on 11 with design students from the Rietveld Academy demonstrating games they had developed.

At the Bigger opening on Saturday May 27th, RENE SG gave a speedpunk concert.
