Say Yes / No to the Internet was part of "The Power of Negative Thinking" nights.

With three different presentations on the subject, Mediamatic hoped to stimulate you and me to break from this positive consensus. We must make negative statements about anything and in this particular case, the web.

The presentations were by Brian McKenna, Roald de Boer and Harm van den Dorpel. This event was hosted by Melanie Bonajo and Kinga Kielczynska.

Everbody's happy nowadays.

Mediamatic believed that there was a yes-yes mentality:
Everyone seems gay these days. This lack of conflicting emotions fails to arouse alternative passions. Here, every critical position dissolves.

Hence Mediamatic presented three guest speakers on the subject of DIY (Do It Yourself) versus the web.

Brian McKenna - Proprietary Hardware Do It Yourself vs. the Ever Elusive Potential of Software

Roald de Boer - Home Made: Roald de Boer held a lecture about porn on the internet, looking into the history of porn, especially pornmovies, and the amateuristic aspect of porn. He showed how images evolved and tried to answer whether internet created a new pornographic language.

Harm van den Dorpel - Virtual Ethereal Experiences: Harm van den Dorpel talked about life changing experiences in Cyberspace.
