<p>Aquaponics is een duurzaam ecosysteem waarbij planten en vissen samen worden gekweekt. De beste manier om duurzaam voedsel te produceren in de stad, want het neemt nauwelijks ruimte in beslag. Tijdens deze workshop bouw je in een dag met collega’s een aquaponicsinstallatie. Een snelcursus biologie, loodgieten en klussen met als resultaat een unieke kantoorkwekerij. <p>Aquaponics is the best way to produce durable food in the city because it hardly takes up any space. The system combines the cultivation of plants and fish. The plants feed off the bacteria in the fish water, and as the water seeps back down it is filtered for the fish. The system is efficient, and there is hardly any water loss.</p>

<p>With a strong team of volunteers we work to build and improve the farm. We try to answer questions like: what kind of lettuce would thrive in an Aquaponics system? What is the best way to monitor our vegetables and fish? Which materials are suitable for this installation? </p> <p>Our volunteers give guided tours of the farm every Wednesday and Sunday between 13.00 and 18.00. <p>Aquaponics is de beste manier om duurzaam voedsel te produceren in de stad, want het neemt nauwelijks ruimte in beslag. Planten en vissen worden in een aquaponics-installatie samen gekweekt. Uitscheiding van de vissen voedt de planten, en de planten verschonen het water. Er wordt nauwelijks water verspild.</p>

<p>Met een hecht team vrijwilligers werken we aan het bouwen en verbeteren van de boerderij. We zoeken naar antwoorden op praktische vragen als: welke slasoorten doen het goed in een aquaponicssysteem? En hoe kunnen we onze groenten en vissen het best monitoren? <p>A group of designers, cooks and other makers are sharing our huge, leaking, unheated space in the Van Gendthallen. In the Freezing Favela you can make tosti's from scratch, bricks from old newspapers, furniture from cardboard, and cook with ingredients from the aquaponics farm. Favela-citizens give workshops and organize events and meals. They work autonomously together. There's a vodka distillery, you can take yoga and cooking classes, or enjoy a glass of fresh milk from De Tostifabriek outside. Adventurous campers can spend the night in the Hot Love Nest, a one-bed-hotel on top of a compost pile. Designers, cooks and other makers have been given the possibility to claim part of this space as their own. They work autonomously on their workshop- or project space, but like in any other community, materials, space, and functions have to be shared. Favela citizens are making tosti's from scratch, bricks from old newspapers, furniture from cardboard, and food from our aquaponics farm. They give workshops, organize get-togethers, and serve food. <p>During the course we will go over techniques for creating illusion of space on a flat piece of paper using your chosen medium. Regardless where you want to take this next, getting basic principals right is very important. Course is aimed at preparing you to work on your own after you finish, explore your own style and develop skills.</p>

<p>Echokamer #4 sees a mix of musical styles. Mutamassik will contribute low-slung bits and beats, and The Average Voices and Boeuf Majeur, Amsterdam choirs under the direction of Tristan Knelange, will perform, among other things, two important European works from the 1920s. <p>After returning from the trenches of WWI, Ernst Toch settled in Weimar to create a number of stunningly modernist works, among which the world's first spoken chorus piece, <em>Geographical Fugue</em>. The Average Voices choir will perform what has affectionately been called 'Weimar Rap', translated into English under the watchful eyes of John Cage and Henry Cowell. </p> <p>Boeuf Majeur, a young choir from Amsterdam, will perform Frank Martin's <em>Mass for Double Choir</em>, the only unaccompanied choral work by the Swiss composer. Written in the 1920s, it wasn't until 1963 and after heavy persuasion that Martin released the piece, which he considered a 'matter between God and myself', to the public. The two choirs, which are both under the direction of Tristan Knelange, will also perform a number of short pieces together. </p> <p>Brooklyn-born, Cairo-based artist Mutamassik mixes afro-beat, breakbeats and hip-hop to create what she calls Arabified swamp music. A pretty good description of her sound which is gloomy without ever losing its drive. At the end of the day you'll have built a fully functional office nursery. Fill the meeting room with tomatoes, harvest your own lunch. The workshop will take place on your premises. <p>How do you turn something boring into something fun? Kids (and smart parents) know the answer: with games! Gamification allows institutions and companies to promote and deepen their activities, resulting in engaged visitors and clients. During this training we will 'gamify' two case studies. <h2>Gamification</h2> <p>Gamification is the use of game design and mechanisms in non-game contexts and is a hot topic in many fields. When people are rewarded for user activity they tend to stay interested in your product or story. The creative industry is slowly embracing this movement. Enroll for the training and 'gamify' two interesting cases. She has built games for various platforms and is currently focused on open data, gamification and serious games.</p> <p><em>Thijs de Vries</em> is a graphic and interaction designer, developer, trainer, public speaker and thinktank focusing on engagement design and serious gaming. We are taking those ingredients and adding: an abandoned factory, a 30ft. t-shirt, paint, brushes, felt tip pens, and your tipsy creativity (creatipsity). The space is big, unheated, and the roof leaks. Designers, cooks, and other makers have claimed part of this space as their own. In the Favela you can make tosti's from scratch, paper from cow dung, furniture from cardboard, and cook with ingredients from the aquaponics farm. Favela-citizens give workshops and organize events and meals.
