After the well attended and well received concert by electro-acoustic multi-instrumentalist Machinefabriek on January 6, we decided to start a new series of concerts at the intersection of (sound) art and music. During the second edition of this so-called ‘Art in Concert’-series on May 26 we will have two extraordinary guests: violinist Lisanne Soeterbroek and sound artist Wouter van Veldhoven.

Lisanne Soeterbroek will perform a solo sonata by Sergei Prokofiev and the piece Memo by Dutch composer Michel van der Aa. Memo is a theatrical solo work for violin. The violinist records him/herself with a small cassette recorder and then plays along with it. Wouter van Veldhoven makes pop-influenced experimental ambient and conceptual soundscapes, using analog apparats such as reel to reel taperecorders and analog synthesizers. Old means, new music.

In addition to the music programme we will show several short films that were selected by the Rijksakademie Beamclub, our monthly film night with inspirational source material by Rijksakademie-residents and their guests.
