Dawood Hilmandi was born in Afghanistan. Forced by circumstances he came to The Netherlands six years ago, at a very young age.
He taught himself to speak Dutch within six months. After that, he decided to focus on the universal language of art.
He is studying at Aki academy in Enschede and has recently become a student at Rietveld academy in Amsterdam as well.
His work shows a great commitment. Fear, powerlessness, loneliness and the search for identity are the starting points of his videos.Especially inhis photo series we come across images that show a deep rooted belief in the vitality of the human being.
