Job opening Mediamatic Lab

Software Developer

For the extension of anyMeta we are looking for programmers with hands on experience.

Mediamatic Lab is looking urgently (Summer 2009) for an experienced software developer to work on our distributed social software projects. We build social web (2.0) applications with which our clients can network, tell stories, share knowledge and work together.

The basis of these web applications is the information management system anyMeta, which is built on a foundation of semantic networks. Most of the programming is in scripting languages (such as PHP) and SQL. But sometimes we also work with Python and C.

What you have:

  • Several years of experience with Unix (Linux et cetera) systems;
  • In depth knowledge of databases, specifically MySQL (or Sybase, Progress, Oracle);
  • Maintenance and expansion of larger software projects;
  • Experience with client/server architecture;
  • DHTML with Javascript and jQuery.

Knowledge and experience that would help you:

  • Building web applications according to the MVC model;
  • experience with other languages like Python;
  • Contributed to open source projects;
  • Configuring and maintaining Apache;
  • Experience with templates, Atom, peer-to-peer sharing, XMPP
