El HEMA
Imagine an Arabic HEMA store. From the 25th of August 2007 to 6 January 2008 Mediamatic presented a design contest, an exhibition, workshops and shop night salons about El HEMA.
In oktober 2008 and spring 2009 the cultural organisation Kosmopolis has adopted the El HEMA in Rotterdam and The Hague. Now all temporary El HEMA shops are closed.
The exhibition has been extended till January 6, 2008.
El HEMA curiously and freely approaches the possibility of an Arabic HEMA. Not explicitly an Islamic HEMA- we are more interested in Arabic-Dutch cultural exchange.
