Full Belly

Occupying culture, cheap labour, double identity and some delicious cooking

By means of dynamic interaction both indoors and outside in the public sphere and a growing presentation in the exhibition space, Gil & Moti tended to generate an informal critical discussion with the audience on subjects such as: occupying culture, cheap labour, double identity.

Accompanied with a video camera, Gil & Moti were on a search for Arab employees in snack bars in Amsterdam, for those who found their home and began a new life in Holland.

Between February the 28th and March 2nd Gil and Moti did a cooking and serving performance in Mediamatic alongside the video installation.

'Shakshuka' is a a vegetarian omelet with special oriental spices that the two artists learned to cook in the Israeli army. This dish was the starting point for discussions on art and politics on a Full Belly.
