Full Belly

Occupying culture, cheap labour, double identity and some delicious cooking

By means of dynamic interaction both indoors and outside in the public sphere and a growing presentation in the exhibition space, Gil & Moti tended to generate an informal critical discussion with the audience on subject such as: occupying culture, cheap labour, double identity.

How about some supper?

Accompanied with a video camera, Gil & Moti were on a search for Arab employees in snack bars in Amsterdam, those who found their home and began new life in Holland.

Between February the 28th and March the 2nd Gil and Moti did a cooking and serving performance in Mediamatic alongside the video installation.

'Shakshuka' is a a vegetarian omelet with special oriental spices that the two artists learned to cook in the Israeli army. This dish was the starting point to discuss art and politics on a Full Belly.
