Bones and a remnant of polyurethane foam from a spray can – these are the inspiration for the sculptures of Adam Colton. The results are a ‘Blob’ whose surface appears to be under great tension, or bracket fungus emerging from the wall. As the light falls on the sculpture’s surfaces – pain stakingly polished polyurethane or aluminium – their appearance changes constantly.

They are objects of great beauty with a breathtaking tactility. Art works that finally resemble nothing we know, prepared with the same love a slow-food chef devotes to his dishes.
The museum is giving contemporary art a prominent place in its new displays in the form of three artist’s presentations that reflect upon the collection and the building. These visual statements are intensified through alternation with works from the permanent collection, establishing a dialogue that heightens the senses and encourages contemplation.
