I'm a researcher and PhD-candidate at the University of Amsterdam's Human-Computer Studies lab. I research human interaction with user-adaptive and (semi-)autonomous systems. My work revolves around concepts such as user control vs. system autonomy, transparency, and trust.

Besides my general interest in human-computer interaction and user experiences, I'm also interested in adapting interactions to human emotions. Other (past and present) projects include studies into transparency of recommender systems, interaction with information filters, context analysis for virtual reality systems, human-robot interaction and interaction with autonomous systems via mobile devices/phones.

Fun stuff: I was concept developer for 'Phobot, the phobic robot', winner of the Human-Robot Interaction '08 Student Design Competition. See staff.science.uva.nl/~hcramer/phobot
