Joost Rekveld (1970) has been making abstract films and kinetic installations since 1991, originally starting out from the idea of a visual music for the eye. For his films he mostly develops his own tools, often inspired by dead-end streets in the history of science and technology. In recent years his work has been steadily moving off-screen, designing projections and light for various dance- and theatreproductions and he has become increasingly implicated in artificial life and robotic swarms. Besides his artistic work he is also active as a curator and teacher.
