Fee & student information

Fees vary per workshop. Registration fees are stated at the bottom of every workshop page. Group discounts are available on mutual agreement. Technical facilities, support, readers and entrance to public presentations at Mediamatic are included in the registration fee. Some, but not all workshops, include lunch. Please check the web page of the workshop you registered for.

A limited amount of students can apply for discount in exchange for assisting in various capacities during the workshop. Please note that not all workshops offer student discount. If student discount is available this will be mentioned on the web page of the workshop you registered for. In this case send us an e-mail workshops [at] mediamatic.net with a copy (scan, picture etc.) of your valid student ID card to inform us you would like to be taken into consideration for the student discount. The student discount is intended for people who are studying and have very limited to no income.

The use of materials during the workshop

The workshops at Mediamatic frequently use expensive materials such as the (Lilypad) Arduino's, RFID readers etc) that you are free to play, build and experiment with. These items are, however, not included in the workshop price. Whilst you can develop your projects during the workshop with these materials, you will not always be able to take your result home with you. We do offer you the opportunity to purchase the materials on the spot, we prefer if you pay in cash, an invoice will be made and sent shortly after the workshop. If there's anything unclear, or if you're still left with questions, please contact us.
At workshops[at]mediamatic.net or phone +31 (0) 20 638 9901.

Our workshops are about experimenting, playing, testing and having fun!

We design and organize courses on new developments in interactive (media) technologies, with a cultural approach. Our courses offer effective hands-on training along with sharp conceptual exploration.

They combine the qualities of an effective CrashCourse with those of a lively DisCourse.

For each course we invite leading makers or thinkers from different areas of work and research to contribute as a lecturer or to offer tech assistance. They help the participants in developing pilots for their own projects or concepts. We continuously innovate our Crash- and DisCourses, looking for currently relevant approaches and urgent subject matters.

Recent courses included focus on hybridity, the integration of digital components in material objects, workshops around the Fablab machinery, the (Lilypad) Arduino, game based technologies & Machinima, PureData, RFID & the Internet of Things, location based media, mobtagging, radio experiences, Interactive film & Korsakow and anyMedia documentaries.

Our intensive 5 day courses are supported by the MEDIA Training Programme of the European Commission.

Mediamatic can also customize a course to the needs of your organization. We can organize a CustomCourse around topics and practices that your organization needs to learn about. All topics, tools and formats of our Crash- and DisCourses can also be brought into a CustomCourse.
