Hicham Khalidi

Hicham Khalidi is an artistic entrepreneur and curator of contemporary art and music.

From 2003 until 2011 he was the artistic director of TAG, institute for audiovisual art in The Hague.

Khalidi has a background in finance and fashion. He has initiated innumerable projects within the sphere of music, design and lifestyle as well as in contemporary art. He is the founder of Concrete Image Store, a high-end lifestyle store and exhibition space with locations in Amsterdam and The Hague, currently run by Assya Khalidi and Dirk Jongen.

Khalidi’s main interests relate to politics of the image, contemporary art and technology and transdisciplinary research in visual arts and music. Khalidi was a member of the advisory committee for the Fonds BKVB and a frequent guest lecturer and moderator. He was part of the jury that awarded Ahmet Ögüt the 2011 Volkskrant Beeldende Kunstprijs. Hicham Khalidi is also member of the board at V2_: interdisciplinary center for art and media technology in Rotterdam, De Zaak NU: union for Dutch art institutes, and the Naked: collaboration of The Hague art initiatives .

Recent curated exhibitions include: Alles, was Sie über Chemie wissen müssen (Berlin, 2011), Esemplasticism, the Truth is a Compromise (Berlin, 2010), Transnatural 01 (Amsterdam, 2010) and Transnatural 02 (Amsterdam, 2011).

At the moment Hicham is working on the exhibition On Geometry and Speculation as part of the fourth edition of the Marrakech Biennale.
