k.g. Guttman

k.g. Guttman is an interdisciplinary artist, dancer, teacher and writer. She has a MFA from Concordia University, Montreal. She also studied at DasArts, Post-graduate program in Amsterdam in 2006 for 6 months.

As an artist, she has screened videos in Europe and Canada, and is represented by Videographe in Montreal. Her drawings and installations have been exhibited in Montreal, Paris, Amsterdam and Rotterdam, including a solo exhibition of a video installation entitled “The Night Forever Unfinished” at Galerie Khiasma, Paris.

As a dancer she was a company member LeGroupe Dance Lab from in Ottawa 1999-2003 (artistic director Peter Boneham), performing in Canada and Mexico. She currently free-lances with choreographers such as Louise Bédard, Lynda Gaudreau, and Sarah Bild. She has performed across Canada (Canada Dance Festival, Ottawa, Dancing on the Edge, Vancouver, Brian Webb Dance Series, Edmonton), and in Europe, including at Dance Week Festival, Zagreb, Cankarjec Dom, Ljublinana, Slovenia, and in Spain at the Teatro Central, Seville and Teatro Alhambra in Granada.

As a choreographer, k.g. has been invited to residencies at Compagnie Flak, José Navas, Groupe Dance Lab, (2000-2003), and the School of Dance, Ottawa, at the Loft, Brussels, and University of Sonoro, Hermosillo, Mexico (2002), and at Clash/Slash 2006/7 under the direction of Lynda Gaudreau in Montreal. She has been presented by the Canada Dance Festival (2000, 2004) and at Tangente, Montreal amongst other theatres across Canada, and in New York. She is co-founder of Situation 5: Choreographic/ Research Collective, in residency at Studio 303, in Montreal, 2005.

As a teacher, k.g. Guttman has taught performance workshops, and technique classes at the University of Sonora, Mexico, Concordia University and Studio 303, Montreal, the School of Dance, Ottawa, Canada, the Loft, Brussels and LeGroupe Dance Lab company class.

In 2007 k,g, launched an artist book entitled Elapse I & II at Art Metropole in Toronto and Galerie LaCentrale in Montreal. The book was purchased for the permanent collection at the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Montréal and by the Archives and Library collection of the National Gallery of Canada, Ottawa.

k.g. is currently an artist-in-residence at the Pavillon 2007-08, Palais de Tokyo, Paris.
