The Institute of Creative Minds Istanbul and the Young Leaders League join forces to answer the question: How do we create a new kind of self-governing society? During the opening of 'A Day in the Park' we shared new visions, ideas and dreams on an alternative society in Istanbul, focusing on topics such as sustainable development and sharing economy.

The Utopia Project was born after the protests in Turkey last summer. Members of the Institute of Creative Minds, an Istanbul-based network of creative professionals, set up a long-term project based on the changing mentality of many protesters against the current, unsatisfying governmental system in Turkey. They asked the Young Leaders League (YLL) to help them answer the question: How do we create a new kind of self-governing society?

13:00 - The Utopia Project. Brainstorm session on alternative forms of governance in Istanbul.
15:00 - A debate on journalism under repressive regimes, with leading journalists from Turkey and the Netherlands.
17:00 - Films, music, exhibition and food.

Location: Mediamatic, VOC-kade 10, Oostenburg Amsterdam. Park is a bottom-up exhibition, research space and public forum by and for anyone who wishes to explore the core concerns of the Gezi protests.
