Paik made his big debut at an exhibition known as "Exhibition of Music-Electronic Television", in which he scattered televisions everywhere and used magnets to alter and distort their images.

Combining the expressive capacity and conceptual power of performance with the new technological possibilities associated with the moving image, he influenced the redefinition of broadcast television and transformation of video into an artist's medium. His work had a profound and sustained impact on the media culture of the late twentieth century.
