presentation:

Nomadic Picnic

With DAY Collective

19 Aug 2018

In this participatory performance, DAY collective presents an unconventional meal of six courses. Neglecting all the traditional ways of having food and socialising, the participants meet each other in silence. The space of Nomadic Picnic is an intimate and sensual experience, in which DAY collective challenge your thoughts and emotions.

Nomadic picnic is fully vegan, sugar and gluten free. Everybody can participate. All courses are prepared from organic ingredients. The performance is open to the public. During the performance, the space is determined by human interaction and meeting. We let go of common traditions concerning sharing food and the act of eating.

About DAY

DAY is a unit of time. It is defined as 86 400 seconds. DAY has several different spans of time based on the rotation of the Earth around its axis.

Within these spans DAY often inhabits and activates the spaces. DAY uses them as a tool to reflect on space as such as well as a current social environment and to let go coded behaviors. Work of DAY is cross- ing boundaries of a maker and a viewer and draws new interpersonal relations. DAY’s intention is to challenge thoughts and emotions by creating physical, mental and spatial experience.

DAY is Dorota And Yulia. They graduated from Gerrit Rietveld Academy, VAV. They have a background in social-cultural sciences & multicultural education, MA (Dorota), graphic design and illustration, BA (Yulia). Their artistic practice is based in Amsterdam and combine live works, moving image and cared forms.
