Turkish onion blossom

She bloomed in the garden of a merchant who received it as a gift alongside the fabrics he traded from the Ottoman empire, in Antwerp, the Low Countries. Majority of her sisters were boiled and eaten by the same merchant who thought of them as “some Turkish onion”.
