Nick DeMartino

SVP, American Film Institute

Nick DeMartino is Senior Vice President, Media and Technology for the American Film
Institute and a member of its senior management team. The programs he has launched harness the power of the digital revolution, including the AFI Digital Content Lab, AFI.com, AFI Screen Education and ScreenNation AFI-Apple Computer Center, and AFI Computer Media Salons. Hollywood Reporter has named him #3 on its list of the “Digital 50” He has twice been named as a technology leader by LA Business Journal.

Before AFI, DeMartino was a documentary filmmaker. He helped create and run the Labor Institute of Public Affairs, a media production unit launched by the AFL-CIO. He was principal staff writer for A Public Trust: the Report of the Carnegie Commission on the Future of Public Broadcasting, and co-author of Keeping PACE with the New Television, and a study of independent production, which sparked the creation of ITVS. He was founder of the Washington Community Video Center and TeleVISIONS Magazine.
