Me and Gezi: Public Confessions

Public interviews with dinner

8 Oct 2013

What is the Gezi spirit and how does it translate outside of Turkey? This Tuesday journalist Froukje Santing will conduct public interviews with a panel of individuals who are especially overcome with Gezi. Then we will begin our confessions ritual: everyone is invited to the podium to confess why Gezi matters to them and receive a TOMA water blessing.

In preparation for an article for the Volkskrant, Froukje Santing will lead public interviews with five people who have been actively translating the Gezi spirit (which originated in Istanbul) back to the Netherlands. How has the Gezi protests changed these individuals and what effect does it have in their home away from home?

After the panel discussion, we will open the podium to the audience. Anyone who would like to confess why Gezi matters to them is welcome to speak up. Each person gets three minutes until the pots start banging and confessors are blessed with TOMA water.
