RFID Zapper Workshop

You don't even have to be a paranoid civilian to want one: it's super nice to make this electronic zapper, even just for fun. The existing RFID Zapper prototypes are built using disposable cameras with flash. The flash is removed and the flash capacitor is connected to a coil. When the capacitor is charged and the circuit closed with a switch, the coil produces a strong electromagnetic pulse. The field induces a current inside the chip which should be large enough to destroy it. But in this workshop we'll start from scratch and build our own zappers. Read more about the zapper on the CCC wiki.

About the Chaos Computer Club (from Wikipedia)

The Chaos Computer Club (CCC) is an organization of hackers. CCC is based in Germany and other German-speaking countries and currently has over 9,000 members.
CCC describes itself as "a galactic community of life forms, independent of age, sex, race or societal orientation, which strives across borders for freedom of information...."
In general, CCC advocates more transparency in government, freedom of information, and human right to communication. Supporting the principles of the hacker ethic, the club also fights for free access to computers and technological infrastructure for everybody. CCC was founded in Berlin on September 12, 1981 at the Kommune 1's table in the rooms of the newspaper Die Tageszeitung by Wau Holland and others in anticipation of the prominent role that information technology would play in the way people live and communicate.
