Echokamer 17: Drone 2.0 & Micro miking

With Mars F. Wellink, Oguz Büyükberber and Tobias Klein

10 أيار / مايو 2014

For Lightness, artist Rob Sweere built a new work called Drone 2.0. Made of wood and speakers, the sound that comes from it makes the Mediamatic Fabriek shake. Mars F. Wellink will use the Drone and the voice of Rob Sweere as a starting point for his performance. Oguz Büyükberber and Tobias Klein have an almost scientific approach of sound. They zoom in on the very grains of sonic textures to explore microscopical structures by using extended techniques and very close miking.

Using extended techniques and very close miking, they zoom in on the very grains of sonic textures to explore microscopical structures. On the other hand, they both have a liking for extroverted and sentimental gestures.

Mars F. Wellink made soundtracks for performances and installations of a lot of artists. He is working together with Rob Sweere for many years now. See for his discography: (ad)VANCE(d)

Lightness

In an age where everyone is affected by the weight of society, the overbearing fears of the economy and the heavy hand of government, 'lightness' is the way forward. Let go of the material and celebrate the ethereal with 11 weeks of 'lightness'. Each week Mediamatic invites a new artist to question the meaning of 'lightness'.
