Interpassivity in Media, Art and Philosophy

Joost Raessens

14 Nov 2007

In this lecture, Raessens rethinks the notion of interactivity as it is used within new media studies. He will place the focus on the aesthetic and political dimensions of the ongoing debate on serious games by referring to the concept of 'interpassivity' as it was introduced in art theory and philosophy.

Joost Raessens is Associate Professor of the New Media Studies in Faculty of Arts at the University of Utrecht. Author of numerous publications in the field of game-studies and co-editor of the Handbook of computer Game Studies (MITR Press, 2005), Raessens is also supervisor of the research program Design Rules for Learning through Simulated Worlds (GATE-program) and co-supervisor of Playful Identities (Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research).
