The EMAF plays a major role as a forum for international media art presenting film, video, performance, media installations and digital media such as CD-Rom, DVD and the Internet.
As part of the festival the German Film Critics Prize is awarded to the best experimental film and videoproduction. The OLB Media Art Prize is awarded to the most innovative media installation.
