A Scandinavian Evening at the Lloyd Hotel

A Scandinavian get-together at the ground floor bar and restaurant of the Lloyd Hotel Amsterdam, what with the presence of Swedish musician Gustav Haggren's band, and visual artist and composer Erikk McKenzie, from Norway. Haggren and his Seasick Sailors will play from their new album 'Brilliant Hands'. Two singles of his previous album were aired on MTV, and the band has appeared on several big Swedish festivals.The sound of the new album is 'brisk and folky'. Gustav is moreover known as the initiator of the Indie National Tour.

As a follow-up of the China Paradox event, organized at the SMART Project Space in july, Violet b. presents the video 'I, You # 2' and a sound performance by Erikk McKenzie, based on his work with the Chinese artist Li Ning in Shanghai in 2007. The work Erikk McKenzie achieved there stresses up a side of the Chinese artistic scene, where art performance in public space takes more and more importance, Li Ning being one of the main artists of this movement.
Bei Wang, from Radio Netherlands Worldwide, and Hong Tong Wu, from Chinese Radio and Television Amsterdam, are invited as guests.

Born in Norway, Erikk McKenzie completed his studies in choreography at the Theater School in Amsterdam. He realizes dance and sound performances, and films. He has been displayed in Spain - at the IN Festival, Barcelona - in Norway - Ilios in Harstad - Uruguay - Festival Montevideo Sitiada - and The Netherlands - like at the Melkweg Theater, in Amsterdam.
