Shirley teaches trend analysis and coaches students at the Interactive Media department of Amsterdam University of Applied Science (HvA). After graduating from the KABK/Royal Conservatory of The Hague with a BA in Arts and Music in 2002, she worked as a media artist for some years and (co-)produced new media and art events in public space. She has worked for the Institute of Network Cultures for several years, most recently as a co-editor for the Society of the Query conference and blog, and recently completed a MA program in New Media and Digital Culture at Utrecht University. Presently, aside from teaching, she co-curates the three-monthly program on future technologies 'Things To Come' for Impakt Foundation.
