It's a family affair

Visual artist Aimee Zito Lema (1982, NL/Arg) presents a dialoque with two generations within her own family; her grandmother Fien Bergmeijer - Sanders (NL, 1921) and her cousin Alessia Bergmeijer (IT/NL, 1994). Zito Lema undertakes a conversation with both of them about learning processes, art and life.

The exhibition is the result of the artist's research in which she elaborated her own work, including interviews, photographs and video, as well as the works of her grandmother and cousin (paintings, drawings and collages).

Aimee Zito Lema

born in Amsterdam 1982, grew up in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Studied art at the IUNA (University of Arts Buenos Aires), the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam, and at Wimbledon College (University of the Arts) London. She has had various shows at museum and galleries in The Netherlands and Argentina. Since September 2009 she is following the Master Course Artistic Research at the Royal Academy of The Hague.

Fien Bergmeijer - Sanders (NL, 1921)

studied Art at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague in 1941 and continued her studies in fahion design in Amsterdam. Late ron she developed her artistic skills in different workshops.

Alessia Bergmeijer (IT/NL , 1994)

is studying at Ecole Active Bilingue Jeannine Manuel high school in Paris and follows an art class at the Atelier d' Orbo. Last summer she wetn to an art camp (Art-on-the-Farm) in Ireland.
