Academie voor Beeldende Vorming (AHK)

The Academie voor Beeldende Vorming (Academy of Fine Arts) is the only independent lecturer’s training college in fine arts in the Netherlands. The programme with a staff of 30 practical and theory lecturers provides an education for approximately 350 students. The practical classes are supported by eight technical instructors.

The Lecturer in Fine Arts and Design Docent Beeldende Kunst en Vormgeving) programme provides the student with a general background in fine arts and a broad-based orientation to art and cultural history, professional didactics, educational theory and Cultural and Artistic Formation (CKV for Culturele en Kunstzinnige Vorming).

Graduates of the programme receive a Bachelor’s diploma upon completion of their studies and are qualified to teach at al schools from elementary up to and including Higher Professional Education. The qualification also enables graduates to work in a wide range of positions targeting the transfer of knowledge of fine arts and design outside the educational fields, at cultural institutions and in the amateur art world. Generally speaking, these jobs can all be combined perfectly with the profession of artist or designer.
