Anne Gentenaar - Participants report the Machinima workshop which took place at Mediamatic, March 2006

Anne is a graduate student at the IMVFX (Interactive Media and Visual FX) department of the Dutch Film Academy. Working on her graduation project Anne made some free time to attend the machinima workshop. Her graduation project is a collaborative project with other students and consists of an interactive space in which the visitor is allowed a peek into the mind of a girl with borderline: “The room will be filled with objects, which trigger movie sequences of memories, experiences and emotions ‘the girl’s mind’ associates with that object. The project will give the visitor a disturbing experience of a mind working in for ‘normal’ people incomprehensible twists and turns."

The machinima workshop was refreshment for Anne. The workshop provided a fresh and new framework for filmmaking. “Machinima aim for diverse and new ways of filming, it is a democratisation of media and calls for workarounds and creative solutions."
