Lecture:

A lecture with Ariel Levy

Female Chauvinist Pigs

12 Apr 2007

The John Adams Institute is proud to present a lecture with Ariel Levy about 21st century feminism.

With:

Author Ariel Levy, regular contributor to the New York Times and The Washington Post joins us to discuss her ideas on 'Female Chauvinist Pigs'. She analyses how twenty-first century American society perceives sex and women. Levy argues that rather than pursuing the confident, self-determined, powerful, free ideal the women's liberation movement would have dreamed for its daughters, we have turned porn stars and strippers into icons. Levy was called "feminism's newest and most provocative voice, brilliantly laying bare the contradictions and evasions and self-deceptions that pass for empowerment' by Malcolm Gladwell.
