Organization:

Amsterdams Fonds voor de Kunst

The presence of the Amsterdam Fund for the Arts is evident in any number of unique art projects, both for and in the city: As advisor, investor, as fuel and as catalyst for both professional and amateur art. We are always on the lookout for new initiatives and new talent, and our task is to ensure an exciting and flourishing climate for the arts and culture. With a view to achieving that objective, we organise debates, we lobby, and we stimulate cooperation. Above all, we provide funding for Amsterdammers that organise projects in art and culture in the city. In 2006, we released more than € 6 million in funding.

The Fund finances all forms of art, such as music, new media, film, theatre, dance photography and the visual arts, and is itself financed by the City of Amsterdam.

The Amsterdam Fund for the Arts works with two funding categories:

  • Basic Funding - The point of departure for this type of funding is an individual work of art or a project. Do you have plans for an unusual work of art, or for a unique cultural project in Amsterdam? Then you can apply for a grant in the form of Basic Funding.
  • Plus Funding - The point of departure for this type of funding is the intended audience or public, which, in most instances, will be a public or audience with below-average involvement in culture and the arts. If you are interested in improving cultural involvement with an art project, you can apply for a grant in the form of Plus funding. Before we invest in your project, we will check your request to ensure that it meets three standard preconditions: will your project be located in Amsterdam, will it be accessible to the public, and will it provide something 'different’ from existing products.
