Overstocked

One catfish eating another and choking in the process - Els Engel

Lidewij and I made a very simple calculation yesterday:

Rule of thumb: 500 gr fish per 20 - 40 liters
Tower: 500 liters
That means: 6 - 12 kg fish per system

Currently: 350 fish per system
1 fish around 50 gr?? > we should weigh one
350 x 50 = 17,5 kg

During the workshop we took around 20 fish per system to the new one, that makes 330 x 50 = 16,5 kg.

Michel the catfish farmer said there was an optimal stocking density. Too much or not enough and they would become cannibalists.
Maybe we should take out some more.

I'm not a great calculator, so do you agree?
