That event is the result of a collaboration of Mediamatic and its neighbors : Shaffy's Tuin - a new public garden created by citizens, Klimmuur - a climbing hall, and the inhabitants - mostly people living on boats in the Dijksgracht. Together we decided to celebrate the freedom day by organizing a dinner in the street where all friends and passersby are welcome. Several meals will be served: some for free, some for a ridiculous amount of money.
Come and taste various meals made by different people of the Dijksgracht.
- the delicious vegetarian meal made by Saskia an Silvia,
- the barbecue and sushis organised by the Shaffy's Tuin,
- the gigantic thaï curry and rice from the Klimmuur ,
- the snacks made by Clea and her family (special spot for children)
- the oysters served with a wild picked salad proposed by Mediamatic.
Every year on 4 May, the Netherlands commemorates the victims of war. On 5 May we celebrate all over the country the fact that we were liberated. Liberation Day is brought to a festive close in the capital city of Amsterdam with the Fifth of May Concert on the River Amstel. Each year, a different orchestra performs on stage against the lovely backdrop of the Amstel. This year, the Philharmonie Zuidnederland will give the Fifth of May Concert, which will also be attended by King Willem-Alexander, Queen Máxima and Princess Beatrix.
You can also check the other dinners organized in the country here and visit the 4 en 5 mei comite page here.
